Samaria Gorge is one of the top attractions in Crete. It is a very long gorge, about 15 km. Even though it might it a while for somebody to walk through the gorge it is more definitely worth the time.
Samaria provides stunning views and landscapes, with nature being at its purest form. The gorge starts at Xyloskalo. There you can find a steep trail that leads to the depths of Samaria.
While hiking Samaria you will not only see landscapes and nature but also some little churches. Take a glance at them. They have a unique architectural style. Along your way there are also a lot of informative signs about the nature (types of flowers, trees etc).
Finally Samaria ends at about 14 km where you can sit and relax at a small cafe. After that there are just 2 more km to go that will lead you to Agia Roumeli, where you can take the ferry full of fresh air and joy because you just have walked through one of the biggest and more exciting gorges in Europe !
